Decided to run out sunday with my brother and his girlfriend to see if we could do better than last weeks skunking. The weather was nice, but the day didn't start off great. Went hunting for pogies and they were far and few between. We were out early looking, but as more and more boats moved in around us, we finally gave up and decided to just deal without em.
We went out to about 75' of water and put out lines. First hookup was my brother with a snapper, too short. booo
Couple of trash fish then he pulls up a nice snapper but he is yelling that something is following it to the boat and he is reeling as fast as he can. WHAM. shark got the back 1/3 of a snapper that would have easily been 24" or so. Bait fish was everywhere all day long. So thick that our depth finder kept blanking out and reading a 4-5ft depth for awhile. The rest of the day was shark, after shark, after another shark. We couldn't get away from them. But the weather was nice, the seas laid down perfect, and the sun stayed behind the clouds. Overall, great day! |
