"When I go I want the BEST/LATEST/MOST ACCURATE info that I can get. In order to have that....I want access to all Sats. Supermap BLOWS away every other service out there as far as accuracy is concerned BAR NONE. They might be easy to use....and easy to send you wandering all over the ocean." - Capt Dave
We have 4 FREE SST Options: AVHRR, MODIS, GEOS and Composite. These are 4 Different Sats displaying 4 different products at varying resolutions. You might think 4 is too many, but once you understand that different Sats make passes at different times of the day, you'll see just how valuable & right on time this info is!!
Bluewater Supermap - SSTs How To:
1 - Open Bluewater Supermap: http://www.florida-offshore.com/Florida_GPS_Numbers_and_Free_SST_Charts.html
2 - Across the top, click Satellite.
3 - Under Sea Surface Temperature, you have 4 options*:
MODIS
GOES
AVHRR
3-DAY COMPOSITE
*For an explanation of each, click HERE.
4 - Now, you can do one of two actions to display the SST data:
(a) Click the box of the SST you want to display. You will then get a screen to the right giving you choices to a specific day and temperatures. Click on what you want.
(b) Another option is to NOT click the particular SST & INSTEAD click "View Loop" for a JAVA popup animated graphic. In the popup, you can start and stop the animation, fast forward or reverse through, set the speed, and even zoom into the picture.
5 - To read the SST data that is in front of you, you do NOT need a legend. Once your data has loaded, point your mouse over an area and pause for a second. The temperature is being brought up for that particular spot you are paused on!! ((THAT IS JUST HOW ACCURATE WE ARE!!!!!!!!!)) The temperature will display in the temperature box along the bottom of the screen. Areas that are black do not have satellite info at the time. _________________
