The crew of Tim,Brad,Cliff,Mike and myself headed out of Pensacola Pass saturday morning at 6 am with a goal to put a few yellowfins in the cooler. The gps was set for a 87 mile run to the SW upon arriving at the Marlin rig we loaded the boat with BFT but the YF's were just not there or playing a game of hiding from us. On to the Rig Ram Powell. The water was a cobalt blue and that in itself was worth the run to me at that point the gps read 98.7 miles from the outer bouy which made it over 100 miles. We started marking larger fish down at 300 feet and with hopes they were YF's we then started a chunk line, it wasn't long before our first YF hit a 30TW Cliff made short work of the 100# yf and as luck would have it the fish got tail wrap and with-in a few mintues it was cord pack on ice . We ended the day with 9 yellow with the largest at 125#s in a four hour window of fishing. It was time for the long ride back to the pass and we reach Sherman Cove just alittle before 6pm. Thanks all for the nice comments. It looks like the water is getting better by the day for us up in the panhandle. Looking for a good catch from the White marlin shoot out and the PFRA tournaments this weel end. Gene

i love going out to the rigs. it's feast or famine with every trip. we don't go very often so it's good to have a trip like this when you make that long run. one day i'll catch a big tuna without tail-wrapping it(but it sure does cut down on the fight time).i'm looking forward to the next trip out already, but i'm ready to do some trolling for some bill's and hoo's.
