ive went out a couple of times and while bottom fishing decided to drop some grouper jigs down. i let it get to the bottom, click the bell and snatch, settle, snatch, settle.... give it a couple of really big ones like for an amber jack and settle. right or wrong? reason im askin is i have only caught one gag which got cut in half by a shark. the water we fish in is mostly green water and the color i caught that one on was yellow, standard bass pro grouper jigs. any advice on technique, color, speed, or anything else would be helpful. jj told me to keep it in touch with the bottom like for bass fishing with a worm. it worked but only once. also for snapper. i bought some glow shrimp 2oz for a slower drop. and some swim baits in 3oz. all i caught was a remora( however u spell it). advice on them would be great also. thanks in advance. again its mostly green water between appalachacola and carabelle.

For grouper,,, like your buddy told you stay in contact with the bottom. Let it sit yank it up,, but not like your setting a hook on a AJ,, just pull it up and then let it set back on the bottom... let it set for 3 to4 sec. and pull it up and let it settle. when you pull it up,, that is when you will feel the grouper,, then set the hook like an AJ and get it off the bottom like NOW... so have a good hard drag set so you can get it off the bottom. As for snapper,,,, what would great form me are the squid jigs,, what ever the jap name is for them and let it set on the bottom and with a even flow pull it up and let it settle just as if the squid was shooting up and then settling down... snapper love this damn thing....
Hope this helps...

Tight Lines,
Mark
