SeaView Plankton Density

You get 3 options: MODIS Aqua + MODIS Terra + a composite!!! This means you have excellent chances of getting nice chlorophyll level readings!!!

About:

Geographically more accurate data with better cloud masking than other sources and a daily composite. This means you get 2 Plankton shot choices, both with loops!

HOW TO FIND THE FISH:

What you see in the shots is phytoplankton.

Bait fish are typically found in greener waters showing higher plankton levels because it is nutrient rich & they feed on the planktons. Other fish such as mullet, salmon, sardines would be found in green water. Most pelagics are found NEAR, but not in the green water. Tuna, for example, have a keen eyesight for finding baitfish & thus will typically be on a clearer, blue side. But for smaller, more "planktivorous" species, searching the greener sides is usually more productive.

Watching to see how long a plankton feature has been in place & whether or not it is stable enough over time to allow fish to concentrate in the area will be a big help in narrowing down your search for the best spot.

How to Display and Read the Data

(1) Select the density shot or daily composite shot - OR - select the LOOP.

(2) If you did NOT select the LOOP, you will get a popup on your right of the image choices.

(3) Click on the image you want to display.

(4) Pause your mouse over an area to get its reading. It's plankton measurement for that Lat/Long will be displayed in the blue Chlorophyll box at the bottom.
