Spent the past week with my family in Sarasota, and they like to do surf fishing at turtle beach. Not an extremely eventful trip this time wrt fishing, but still beats working. During the week, here's what we nabbed (no pics yet...):
more pinfish than you could shake a stick at....this was a first. Didn't really have that problem in previous years.
3 big stink in catfish
20 or so whiting (aka sea mullet aka northern kingfish)
3 pigfish
1 bonnet head shark
1 Spanish mackerel (on dead shrimp no less)
3 small Jack crevalles
10 or so ladyfish
3 flounder (1 keeper - caught on a salt water rattletrap)
Fed most of the pins to the begging herons. Ate most of the whiting and the jacks (they're really not bad). I hooked several ladyfish on artificials but only
landed one on a plug. In previous years it was a lot more whiting and ladyfish and none of this pinfish mess. |
