Team RECESS just got in after spending 9 days in Key West. While there the weather was something to dream about, gently winds and smooth seas. Out to the west the first day for some jewfish and red groupers around the horn bouy, some fine jewfish were released and only a few red grouper for a fresh sea food dinner was bought back to shore. We released over 50 red grouper to fight another day. The second day was to the reef in 90 feet for some flag yellowtails. The yellowtails were there along with some muttons and we filled a box with them. Troll for some slammer dolphin the next day and was not disappoint there also. Our biggest was in the mid 30. Lots of sailfish in the area, but for some reason we could not stay hooked up to any for a release. Same with two blue marlins, just a quick release. The height of the trip was Tim's day time swordfish in 1600 feet. Tim now has all seven billfish to his credit. A Blue,Black,Stripe,White,Longbill,Shortbill and now finally his swordfish. Luck would have it,that we brought a deep frezzer with us. And the swordfish filled it up.Congrates son on completing your goal. Cliff and Rob had never been that far south. But with 7 straight days of fishing (catching)there I think they have a bad case of Keys disease. Gene

We were in blue water at 7 miles. just alittle past the reef on the Atlantic side. Our longest run was to the south 55 miles out. We could see the clounds forming from Cuba. The reason we ran so far was to see what the stream was doing. But around 20 miles on average. The wahoo, sailfish and dolphin were holding in around 450 feet depth in the grass. Several free jumping marlin in the 1000 feet depth. The stream was very slow for this time of year to us. The muttons and yellowtail are as about as thick as I have ever seen them on the second roll down. Gene

Capt.DQ, I will try and get Cliff to post some pictures. For some reason I just don't understand how to post them. My grand daughter says the older generation just don't get it. LOL. Gene

I'VE TRIED TO POST A COUPLE OF TIMES BUT IT WOULDN'T SUBMIT AND THE PICS WOULDN'T LOAD. SO HERE WE GO AGAIN, BUT I'LL NEED SOME HELP W/ THE PICS.
THE TRIP TO THE KEYS WAS A DREAM TRIP FOR ME. I'VE NEVER SEEN SUCH BLUE/PURPLE WATER BEFORE AND SOOOO CLEAR AND FISH EVERY WHERE THAT YOU DROP A HOOK OR JUST LOOK. IF YOU DON'T LIKE WATER DON'Y GO TO THE KEYS.I'D COULD SIT HERE FOR AN HOUR TELLING EVERYTHING THAT IS GREAT ABOUT FISHING IN THE KEYS BUT YOU NEED TO GO EXPERIANCE IT FOR YOURSELF. YOU CAN CATCH DIFFERENT TYPES OF FISH TILL YOUR ARMS TURN INTO NOODLES. THERE ARE MARLIN,SAILS,SWORDS,PHINS GALORE,BARRACUDA OUT THE WAZOO,BETTYS(NURSE SHARKS 300#+),MUTTONS,YELLOW TAILS A PLENTY,MORE RED GROUPER THAN A MAN CAN COUNT IN A DAY,JEWFISH AND SOME ODD BALLS LIKE CHUBS AND SLIPPERY DICKS(YES THIS IS THE NAME OF THE FISH). I'VE GOT PICS IF SOMEONE CAN TELL ME HOW TO LOAD THEM(BLUE EYES) THANKS.
