After a great first day, I was pretty stoked about Day 2. The water color and temp was nasty both days at 70 degrees and less most places and not very pretty color, but the calm conditions made up for it. The crew was Ponce, Mike, Doug and Myself.
We went back to the AR with a cobia and/or pompano on our minds. We got jacked back up with feisty little jacks right away, but the FA's weren't out in full force which suited me, because they cause tangles.
Early morning Cold but feisty almaco jack on the Pink Sardine
Another decent fish on the 400g Katana
We got some jacks, then high speed trolled out to some deeper water. Nothing on the high speed this day. Not a sniff.
There were some bigger jacks out deeper and it was warmer, which was appreciated.

Then we went sniffing around the area some. We spied a good mark and I mentioned that it was a classic grouper mark. Doug and both dropped hammered jigs and were instantly rewarded with hits well up off the bottom on the hammered jigs. Both were nice gags. We vented them and used the aussie release weight and left, since we couldn't keep them.

Back inshore we caught gags and sea bass on tipped 100g jigs and Aki Jigs. We kept some of the bigger bass, but had to turn the gags back. Seems like the NMFS an NOAA don't have a clue, because there is no shortage of grouper out there.

Thanks Ponce and Crew, I enjoyed it.

| Looks like another good trip. But I do see some jacket on. I know for myself I had 5 layers on over here last week. And the seas conditions looked great. Good post. Gene |
