I guess I will break the ice in the Offshore World forum.
What is your favorite Sail catching Technique?
Mine is drifting with a live bait rigged on a kite. _________________ Fountain 34 CC

| While fishing out of Key West. We like to slooow troll a live bait in the 90 -150 foot range just south of the reef about 5 miles west of sand key. Up here in the pan handle we troll combo's. The only problem with that is,there are alot of wahoo around here when the sails and white marlin are in. But we were able to T&R a sail and lose two combo's at the same time to wahoo at the side of the boat. But if you use wire the bill bites just don't happen. A lucly boat with sail releases of five sails in one year is uncommon. A good day of T&R with sails and whites would be around 10 fish with about 20 or so boats chasing them. We take what we can get. Nothing compare to 20 or so releases like some boats get down in your neck of the woods. Speaking of woods, We will be down in the first part of June chaseing blues at Woods Wall. Gene |

| I myself like to troll a daisy chain with a small combo if our target is sails and whites ( green squid). The sea conditions have to be right to do that just like trolling a bird for dolphin. One foot or less for us. And yea the bara and hoo like them also. And Sam Crutchfield the singer says cotton picking baracuda done bite off my teaser. Gene |

We got a new AFTCO kite we haven't even taken out of the tube yet. Waiting for Spring.
As for Sails --- Let's just say I have a cool use for Needlefish. |

| Amanda The kite you have. What is the wind range of it. We too like to use kites, but for the last four years here they just have not preformed for us here because of the lack of concetrated of fish. We flew one in 2007 at the 131 and thought that everyone that day wanted to run into us. You would have thought no one had ever seen one offshore. But give it a try anyways maybe you will bring up more then we did that day. Gene |
