SeaView Sea Surface Height Anomaly- Altimetry
About:
Sea Surface Anomaly analyses interactive data layer like the SST. We could display screen shot images from Navy website (( http://www.oscar.noaa.gov/datadisplay/ts.html )) or from the Univ of Colorado (( http://argo.colorado.edu/~realtime/gsfc_gom-real-time_ssh ))
.. but we DON'T give you these screen shots, instead we give you TRUE DATA from SeaView! These are data sets that are otherwise unavailable.
HOW TO READ SSH / ALTIMETRY:
Ok, let's start here.
Let's ID the color ranges:
[img][/img]
Blue = Upwelling (good)
Green = "Neutral"
Red = Downwelling (not good)
WHERE TO LOOK
In the SSH, fish are often found in the green-yellow or slightly positive upwelling areas - on the outskirts of either the high or either low anomalies, not in the centers of strong high & low.
Also, regions with a HIGH SSH close to a low creates a pinched "normal" height zone which has a chance of being productive.
