I have to again hand it to the maps here. It's nice having a plan fall together as planned. Me, my dad, Chris and his wife Samantha got on the water this morning to look for Cobia. We went towards Navarre to a tiny bit warmer water. First off the sst's in supermap were dead on. Then Reefcast's wind predictions followed right on the hour. Winds picked up, out of the southeast. We put 1 Cobia in the boat early around noon on a orange jig I made. The Cobe weighed in at 43.6 lbs by our scale we have by the dock.

and I want to re-state what Capt DQ had posted about courtesy when Cobia fishing. Please don't be a JERK when you see me hooked up and rush your boat in with your tower crowded with 16 year old BOYS throwing lines every where.

Congrats on your fish there Biminitwist, and my comments about manners.... conveying to some that common sense is to be used, but there are some who just don't get it. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Respect and common sense isn't as common anymore. It was good to get out even if we only got 1. It gets us warmed up for things to come. Chris and Sam didn't realize how much meat are on those fish. They've never eaten Cobia that I know of. dad is smoking the steaks today for dinner.

Maybe but we actually we need a good south wind to blow in some warmer water to stay and then you will see the Cobia!!!

Hey JJ, I was just making a joke to Amanda about how the strong west winds were blowing the fish back to Destin. But you are right about needing some South/Southeast winds to push warmer water in along with the fish that are offshore...as the strong West winds and cooler air temps today actually push the water temps back down from P'cola to the other side of Navarre.
