I second the colors on the trolling lures: Purple/Black, Pink/Black and Red/Black Ilander's or Ballyhood work the best for highspeed trolling. However, if you hit the right structure at the right depth before a front roles in at the calm before the storm; nothing says you have to troll at 18 knots for Hoo's. Build a good chum drop over the structure with chunks of Bonita and you'll connect with a Hoo guaranteed! _________________ Captain Ted

There are techniques that fit alot of different lures and speeds. I'm not saying that high speed trolling does not catch Wahoo or for that matter any type species. I know of anglers that have caught Big Wahoo bottom fishing. I'am just not a fan of high speed trolling for personal reasons. But here is a picture of a 115# Wally caught trolling over structure 5-6 knots on 5' stand-up rod with Penn 16 reels with 30# class line on Rapala lure with the treble hooks changed out to a stronger grade over the standards.
