How to Launch & Retrieve Boats at a Busy Ramp!
In & Out in under 5 minutes!
By: Amanda, BlueOceanEyez
LAUNCH: Have your boat ready! Put all your gear & all your coolers, etc in the boat before you leave home or on the side of the ramp area, not at the ramp launch slip! When you get to the launch ramp, the only things you may have to do are (1) check that your PLUG is in & (2) Unhook your boat from the winch.
Have one person in the boat and another person backing the truck down the ramp.
When the boat hits the water, lower the motors down and back the boat off the trailer as the trailer is coming back further in the water.
NOW, don't stay and clog that ramp waiting for the rest of the party to get back; go drift away from the ramp out of the way until you see your friend(s), then go pick them up off the end of the dock.
RETRIEVE: When you get back to the ramps, pull up to the dock and let the truck driver off the boat & whoever else wants out. Do this quickly! Tell them to JUMP & they can get their crap off the boat later...
While the truck & trailer are coming around, you drift around away from the docks. While you're out there waiting you can make sure the antenna is down, turn off the electronics, etc.
When you see the trailer put into the water, go drive the boat on the trailer. The truck driver will be there to hook the winch.
The driver should take you to the pull-off area of the park where you can get out of the boat, pull the plug, buckle it down to the trailer, whatever else you need to do.
That's it! You are in and out quickly & you're not clogging the ramps on a busy day sitting there waiting with ropes & gear & coolers to be loaded & unloaded!!!
